Maternity and Infant Care scheme
We participate under the HSE’s Maternity and Infant Care Scheme and provide antenatal and postnatal services to pregnant women.
You are entitled to this service for free as long as you are resident in Ireland and have a valid PPSN.
If you have a significant illness eg. diabetes or high blood pressure, you may have up to 5 additional visits to the GP.
Pregnant women are also entitled to certain vaccines for free during pregnancy including Flu, Whooping Cough and Covid Vaccines.
Care for other illnesses which you may have at this time, but which are not related to your antenatal care are not covered by the scheme. Requests for letters and certificates are also not covered and will incur a charge.

HSE Vaccine Campaigns
We participate in all HSE led public health vaccine campaigns and encourage all eligible patients to avail of recommended vaccines.
Seasonal Flu vaccines for adults and children (nasal), Covid vaccines, Childhood Immunisations and Whooping cough vaccines for pregnant women are free for all eligible patients.
Free Contraception Scheme
We provide services under the Free Contraception Scheme to women aged 17-30 inclusive. Under this scheme, women are entitled to the cost of necessary consultations with GPs to discuss suitable contraceptive options and the cost of fitting and/or removal of various types of coils and implants.
Care for other illnesses which you may have at this time, but which are not related to contraception, is not covered by the Scheme.
Cervical Screening
We participate in the Cervical Check screening programme which provides regular free cervical screening tests to women between the ages of 25 – 65. More information is available on the Cervical Check Website where you can also register and check when your next screening test is due. You must confirm that you are due for a free test before booking your appointment with one of our nurses.
Chronic Disease Management
We participate in the HSE’s CDM Programme which aims to improve the health and well being of patients living with specific chronic diseases-Type 2 diabetes, Asthma, COPD and Cardiovascular disease (Atrial Fibrillation, Ischaemic Heart Disease – Angina/Heart Attack/Stents/Bypass surgery, Heart Failure, Stroke/TIA). Patients with these illnesses are entitled to access this programme free of charge if they have a medical or doctor visit card and are over 18 years old.
We will invite you for an appointment with our nurse and doctor every 6 months if you are eligible for this programme. These visits are free of charge and may include blood tests, ECG, Blood pressure monitoring (if deemed necessary). If you believe you are eligible but have not been enrolled on the programme please contact the surgery.
